Job Details – CVOR Surgical Tech / Surgical Technologist (Travel)
- Location: Albuquerque, NM 87102 (Cardiovascular Operating Room)
- Position: CVOR Surgical Technologist / Surgical Tech (Cardiovascular Surgical Tech)
- Setting: Hospital – Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (May 11, 2026 – August 10, 2026)
- Shift: Day shift, 5x8-hour shifts (06:30 – 15:00)
- Hours per Week: 40
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,580 – $1,700
- Call & Float: Call required; floating to like units as needed
Required Qualifications – Surgical Technologist / CVOR
- Minimum 1 year of recent CVOR Surgical Tech experience (Cardiovascular OR experience required)
- Travel experience required; previous travel surgical tech assignments preferred
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- NBSTSA certification preferred but not required
- Experience with electronic charting systems and accurate procedure documentation
- Pending New Mexico (NM) or Compact license accepted (must be obtained prior to start)
- Willingness to float to similar units and participate in on-call rotation
Primary Responsibilities – Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
- Assist surgeons and the CVOR team during cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures, including CABG, valve replacements, open AAA, CEA, and Fem-Pop
- Prepare and maintain a sterile field using strict aseptic technique; act as scrub tech and instrument handler during cases
- Operate and troubleshoot specialized CVOR equipment; ensure safety protocols for fire, laser, and radiation are followed
- Support complex endovascular and open procedures such as angioplasty/stenting, aortic aneurysm repair, TAVR, and VAD implantations
- Accurately document procedures, implants, and patient information in the charting system (EMR/OR documentation)
- Float to similar surgical units as needed and participate in on-call rotation to support emergency cases
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (surgeons, perfusion, anesthesia, nursing) to deliver high-quality patient care
